Every great story starts from a little seed

The Corfe Mullen Gardening Club of today has its roots back to 1904 when a group of enthusiasts came together as Founding Members to start the Corfe Mullen Horticulture Club and started running flower shows. In 1942 another organisation came into being:  ‘The Corfe Mullen Gardens & Allotments Association’.  Each club continued in their own way: one concerned with flower shows and the other with genreal aspects of gardening.

Both the original clubs were very successful in their running with spectacular annual flower shows that were attended in their hundreds.  In 1957 the Corfe Mullen Flower Show was opened by Bob Arnold, the BBC celebrity Tom Forest of ‘The Archers’.

Then in 1964 they decided to amalgamate and became known as the Corfe Mullen Horticulture Society being affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society.

Our Vision today

The Corfe Mullen Gardening Club was previously called the Corfe Mullen Horticulture Society. Over the years ideas changed and the ‘Horticulture Society’ aspect was dropped in favour of what was felt as more appropriate to a ‘Gardening Club’. What we do remains the same and the friendly atmosphere is abundant.  The Club is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society.

Our meetings are very varied with speakers giving illustrated presentations on many topics.  These evening talks are very popular and our speakers are often asked to come back and share their new experiences with us.  Tea and coffee is always available.

Throughout the year the Club has a number of outings where we visit various gardens and houses. Most are on a day visit but sometimes we have an overnight stay.  All these outings are well supported.  During the summer months we meet up socially.

Being a member of Corfe Mullen Gardening Club entitles you to a 10% discount at the Naked Cross nursery on production of the current membership card.
